A person's surname can influence their career, experts claim
A good example that it is environment that dictates your success in life, not heredity. This should story could, and should, be an epiphany for people shelling out big bucks going to seminars and buying self help books to "Motivate your life now!" If people are just going out and being successes because the CHOSE to utilize their name-sakes to the fullest then so be it.
According to this article all I need to do to facilitate my child's success is name him/her something in the realm of positive and it's all good right?! Well not so much. After watching the documentary Freakonomics they had some kids named positively and others named negatively but the results weren't static; meaning just because you name someone "Success" yet foster them in an uncaring environment it will work out so well. But that SAME person puts their name on a job resume and the employer picks it up he'll probably put that on the top of the list because of his pre-convictions about the name vs. who he/she may really be when they walk in that interview door. Be them a literal success or failure means nothing, it just gives them a little jumpstart in that instance.
The reality though is kind of telling that the #1 fastest sprinter in the world is a guy named "Bolt." And an expert author writing about Earth's Poles is named, "Snowman." While at the same time adjacently, some doctors are named "Pain."
My take is just give them a nice "safe" name and you'll not trip your kids up as they go through life. Sometimes it's all about Playing the game.
